Growing with Purpose: How Pension Pulse Scaled Their Business at Koba
When Pension Pulse first joined Koba, their mission was clear – to help more people across the UK take control of their retirement planning ….
We sat down with the founder of Pension Pulse, Aidan, to learn more about what’s driving their growth, their experience with Koba and the importance of flexibility in fast-growing businesses.
Growth & Vision
You’ve recently upsized your office space with us – what’s driving this growth, and where do you see the company in the next 2–3 years?
“Pension Pulse growth comes from a relentless commitment to helping people save for retirement. 91% of the UK population have never taken pension advice, our mission is to change that by making financial advice accessible. The accelerated growth has come from doing things differently and hiring a fantastic team to support clients. We have gone from 0 to a £100m of assets under management in 20 months, which typically takes firms 4-7 years to hit these numbers and were proud of the team in their commitment to serving our new and existing clients every day. Finally, we have brought on a fantastic executive team including two NEDS who have invested over £3billion in UK business. Their passion and support help aid our growth plans over the next 2/3 years which is to see that 91% number reduce year on year.”
As a founder, what are the key factors you look for when choosing office space to support your scaling ambitions?
“The key factor I look for when choosing office space is flexibility. This is now our fourth office in two years, and our third different location, so as a fast-growing business we need partners who can adapt to our changing needs. Scalability is essential, and we value providers who not only offer that flexibility but also approach these transitions with fair and transparent pricing to support sustainable growth.”
The Koba Experience
What initially attracted you to Koba, and how has the flexible office model supported your business needs as you’ve grown?
“The space is exceptionally well designed, credit to the interiors team. I was impressed by the pictures initially, and the in-person visit more than lived up to expectations. The offices are spacious; our first office for 18 felt generous, and now in our 24-person space, it’s fantastic with plenty we can do with it. The flexibility Koba offers has been essential to our scaling. Their support in transitioning to the larger office was outstanding, and the way they adapt to our needs is something you don’t often find. They truly understand what it means to support growing companies, and the customer service from both the operations and sales teams has been first-class.”
Can you tell us about your experience working with our on-site team? How do they contribute to your day-to-day success?
“Well, they’re a breath of fresh air and I’m not just saying this because they have asked me to answer the questions they just are. I love people who find solutions and that’s why they all do. Warm, welcoming and understand customer service. On that, the MD Paul is a great guy, makes himself accessible, asks about the business and clearly cares about the tenants of Koba”
How important is the office and community in attracting and retaining talent for your business?
“Having great office spaces certainly helps attract talent, its great brining people in for interviews and the team are always welcoming to our guests. The community side is optional and not forced on people which is great! inclusive events and activities the guys can choose to be a part of, it’s a nice touch.”
Advice for Other Growing Businesses
What advice would you give to other companies considering flexible workspace, particularly in Manchester?
“Find a partner who genuinely understands the challenges of growing a business. We’re not always cash-rich, so fair and flexible pricing with good terms is essential. The ability to move, pivot, and have real choice makes all the difference.
To keep my advice simple: choose Koba.”
